Information About All of Your Automobile’s Filters

Let’s talk about the automobile filters that are definitely in your car, truck, or utility vehicle, and the ones that may or may not be in your automobile. Righter’s Auto Repair can replace your auto filters when they need it. Clean filters keep your engine running efficiently and your fuel mileage under control. There are five filters found in automobiles. Here is what they are.

Air

The air filter is located in the engine, and every vehicle has one. The air filter cleans the air that flows into the engine through the grille. This clean air is used in the combustion chamber to fire up your engine and keep it running. A clean air filter is crucial for your engine’s performance and gas mileage. Changing the air filter every 12,000 miles keeps it clean and effective.

Cabin

The cabin air filter is most likely located behind the glove compartment if your vehicle has one. Not every automobile has a cabin air filter. As its name suggests, this filter keeps the air clean inside your passenger cabin. A clogged cabin air filter can make you feel sick when you are driving your car. To avoid this, make sure to have the cabin air filter changed every 30,000 miles.

Fuel

Your vehicle definitely has a fuel filter to remove the sediment and dirt that is found in the fuel. Once the fuel is clean, it is sprayed into the combustion chamber to be mixed with the air for combustion. A clogged fuel filter will affect your engine’s performance, fuel economy, and may even make it difficult to start your car. Change the fuel filter every 30,000 miles to ensure it is always clean.

Oil

Your automobile also has an oil filter because every automobile has an oil filter. This filter gets replaced when you have the oil changed in your engine. Therefore, your engine gets a new oil filter every 3,000 miles. A clogged oil filter can affect your engine’s performance, damage the engine irreparably, and introduces excess hydrocarbons in your vehicle’s exhaust.

Transmission

Finally, the transmission filter works just like the oil filter does. What we mean by this is that it is changed when the transmission fluid is changed. This should be done every 30,000 miles to ensure you always have fresh transmission fluid in the transmission.
